David Hendler (1904 - May 2, 1984) was an Israeli painter, winner of the Dizengoff Prize for painting. He was called "The painter of Tel Aviv".

Handler was a painter, with a delicate sense of color, and his drawings, painted with a fingernail and varied in a few water stains, were common in Tel Aviv and other cities. He would finish a painting in a few minutes.

The main motifs in his paintings are workers, horses, and other work animals, the old Tel Aviv houses, the promenade of Tel Aviv. His naked paintings showed the influence of Henri Matisse.

Handler's works constitute one of the most faithful and human records of the beginning of the Zionist revival in the Land of Israel. Handler also has a great influence on the field of drawing in Israel, in addition, his influence is evident in the works of Aryeh Navon, Avigdor Steimatzky, Aviva Uri and others.
